Mac has over 35 years of management experience in research and product development at Panasonic and Nihon Kohden. During his over 20 years in the US, Mac has conducted many collaborative research projects with top universities and hospitals including MIT and MGH. Mac was also a co-founder of a drug discovery start-up, Tensor Biosciences, in California. He returned to Japan in 2016 as General Manager of RIKEN and then moved to Osaka University in 2020. He co-founded CarbGem in 2021 and returned to Boston in the summer of 2022. He is a member of a review committee for AMED (Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development) Organ-on-a-chip project since 2017. He has been an independent board member at Myoridge Co.
