Koichi Masuda is the Co-founder and CBO (Chief Business Officer) at HIKARI Lab, based in Japan. In his role, he is responsible for the strategic business development and overseas product development. Most recently, he has been tasked to expand the SPARX, the gamified mental healthcare app based on cognitive behavioral therapy and with clinical evidence for improvements. SPARX, a mobile gaming app with built-in cognitive behavioral therapy, was originally developed by researchers at University of Auckland, New Zealand. Since it's launch in New Zealand, the app has been trialed and tested in multiple countries, including Japan and the United States, where HIKARI Lab has the exclusive distribution rights for the SPARX app. SPARX has already had multiple clinical trials and validation testing conducted in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Canada, with other limited trials in research environment conducted in the United States and several other regions. At the moment, the Japanese translated app (sold under license by HIKARI Lab for the Japan market) is sold as a direct-to-consumer app and has seen over 10,000 downloads to-date. As we prepare the full launch of SPARX in the United States, HIKARI Lab is looking for academic, clinical research, and business partners to realize a successful US-launch of the SPARX app.
