Carrie Allen is an experienced international leader in innovation, education and the arts. Currently, Allen is the Managing Partner of CIC Captains of Innovation, LLC, CIC’s innovation strategy consulting firm serving large corporations and innovation districts. Allen also co-founded AGENCY, the world’s first innovation cluster focused on age-tech innovation and longevity with co-working space at CIC, international programming and ecosystem connections.Prior to joining CIC, Allen ran Harvard Professor David Edwards’ innovation lab for 8 years and was Director of Le Laboratoire Cambridge and Executive Director of ArtScience Labs, where she gained experience working with startups in new technologies and environmental design, wellness, future of foods, digital communication, museum exploration and water. She co-founded, built and ran the innovation educational program the ArtScience Prize in 2008, growing it from Boston to 23 sites internationally.
In addition, she oversaw the creation of Le Laboratoire Cambridge and Café ArtScience in Cambridge, MA running the construction project and ramp up of staffing and programming. Le Laboratoire is an art and design center where international artists and designers experiment at the frontiers of science, and programming is curated to spark innovation across disciplines, while highlighting innovation, creativity and learning. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College with a double major in art and economics and a minor in French. These areas of study led her to develop a wide range of talents in the arts, business, and nonprofit fields.
