ABOUT THE SESSION

Good art tells a story and this tale tells the journey of a rebellious spirit who shines light (literally) on today’s injustice.

Evan Lukash aka v.Kash got his start in California with sketching, graffiti and street photography during his teenage years. It all began as an outlet and form of expression through hard times (as if adolescence isn’t hard enough, Evan dealt with bouts of homelessness). Evan embraced the struggle and though it wasn’t easy, he channeled his frustrations through his art which ultimately landed him on the east coast with The School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.

In his own words, Evan started “moving graffiti onto Neo-Canvases i.e. body art, records, backpacks, really anything that I could paint that wasn’t an actual canvas. I used my knowledge of color and scale from graffiti to make my video art something special, I live by the motto ‘go big or go home’. I wanted to show my support for the occupy movement whilst on tour doing visuals so I started making custom masks. That became Project Anonymask which brought personalization to anonymity, and was highly successful. Recently while designing and building my own stages, I was working on and mastering Non-intrusive product placement and branding in visuals as an innovative way to advertise to new audiences.
When the George Floyd incident happened my natural disdain for authority kicked into high gear and I started protesting and documenting. I caught some very unique and rare footage while on the front lines and realized the potential of unifying my beliefs and abilities together. Thats when I started doing politically heavy livestreams with DJs and put together a mobile VJ rig for guerrilla projection mapping. I have been going out at least once a week projecting my visuals and messages in and around the Boston area at either high visibility locations or locations with a history, like the Old Statehouse (the site of the Boston Massacre or at Fenway Park”.
