October 26, 2023 | 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Room: Havana Room
ABOUT THE SESSION

Join us for an enlightening fireside chat as we delve into the concept of Rights of Nature for the Charles River, in collaboration with representatives from the Boston Area Sustainability Group, the Charles River Watershed Association, and the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe. Together, these groups have been at the forefront of innovation in safeguarding the Charles River ecosystem.

Our speakers, Jen Ryan [Deputy Director of Advocacy, CRWA] and Zeus Smith, esq. [Associate Attorney, CRWA] along with Hartman Deetz, Mashpee Wampanoag, will discuss the origins of the Rights of Nature movement, legal questions surrounding these ideas, where technology might fit in to supporting the river’s rights, and how this can all come together to better protect the Charles River.

This is a hybrid session. Click here to tune in!
