Karen Discusses Racism

In-person session

June 18, 2020 | 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM
ABOUT THE SESSION

The team at “Karen Discusses Racism” firmly believe the emotional labor of dismantling systemic racism is on white people. Not everyone is ready, able or willing to discuss racism and white privilege. To move the conversation forward, “Karen” sets out to help soften the emotional and introspective process into being an ally to the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities.

This webinar provides people the opportunity to ANONYMOUSLY ask race related questions you’re embarrassed or afraid to bring up around people you know. “Do black people prefer to be called Black or African American”? “if all human life sacred, why this much attention to this statement”? and more. The goal is to maximize learning and understanding while minimizing or avoiding shame, blame, or guilt, and with a touch of levity. That said, there will be emotions. Learning and unlearning around racism is frequently emotionally heavy.

Who should join in?

If you are a leader at your organization or company or if you want to be an ally but are embarrassed about what you don’t know. If you have a platform to enact change but don’t know where to start, this is for you.
