Room: Venture Café
ABOUT THE SESSION

The backbone of Venture Café – come meet the community and make connections with all different kinds of innovators. How will you make your serendipitous moment come true?

We're joined by The City of Cambridge's Office of Workforce Development STEAM Internship Program as well as Food Rescue US. Stop by their table to discover more!

From our friends at The City of Cambridge Office of Workforce Development STEAM Internship Program - Connect with the Cambridge community! Talk with staff from the Office of Workforce Development about how you can contribute to helping local teens learn about STEM and other career paths. We host a program for 800+ teens each summer to get their first work experience. We use a racial justice lens to frame our efforts to ensure that Cambridge residents who are most impacted by systemic inequities have access to high quality STEAM programming, resources, and skill-building opportunities. About 30% of students at the public high school (Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) identify as Black or African-American and 14% identify as Latinx. About 30% of Cambridge residents were born outside of the US and 38% of CRLS students come from low-income families.

From our friends at Food Rescue US - Are you seeking to create a meaningful impact in your community? Join us at Food Rescue US as we combat food waste and hunger in Boston and Cambridge! Whether you can spare a few hours each week or aspire to take on a larger role as a site coordinator, we invite volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels to join us. Our mission is to rescue surplus food from restaurants and deliver meals to associations serving those in need. Let's collaborate and instigate change together!
