Welcome to our Bluetech Innovation Virtual Conference sponsored by SeaAhead and hosted at Venture Café Cambridge.
Join us for a day of innovations in aquaculture! The Future of Aquaculture is an opportunity for aquaculture stakeholders to share their industry knowledge and insights with technologists and startups that may be able to help them streamline operations, add value to products, and find new markets. SeaAhead, in partnership with Venture Café and Cambridge Innovation Center, will lead an exploration of opportunities for collaboration and innovation in the aquaculture industry. Themes include the increasing role of tech in aquaculture, emerging sub-sectors such as seaweed derived biofuels as a mode to drive decarbonization, tech to promote and streamline regional food security through local aquaculture while improving economic empowerment in our coastal communities in a Covid19 world.

Aquaculture has emerged as a diverse and versatile industry with an impact in many corners of the blue economy. Despite immediate challenges, opportunities exist to design and redesign aquaculture supply chains and markets, taking advantage of a range of innovations. When applied strategically, technology can help the aquaculture industry improve resilience in local food systems, build a more sustainable and healthy food and energy future, and give a needed economic boost to coastal communities.
SeaAhead message: SeaAhead is a Benefit Corporation, founded in Boston, with the mission of catalyzing the intersection of oceans + innovation + sustainability. We help build companies, run an incubator, facilitate investments, and catalyze bluetech innovation. Our ecosystem includes startups, technologists, scientists, corporations, governments, and other ocean stakeholders striving to create sustainable impact in areas like greener shipping and ports, seafood, offshore alternative energy, plastics, and coastal resilience.
A note about seafood: SeaAhead believes that aquaculture must play an important role in our sustainable food future. Aquaculture is one component of the seafood ecosystem and is complementary to responsible, local, wild capture fisheries. We support technology that can help build a resilient food system and increase the net amount of sustainable sourcing of ocean-based protein.
