Allen also co-founded AGENCY, the world’s first innovation cluster focused on age-tech innovation and longevity with co-working space at CIC, international programming and ecosystem connections.

This reverse pitch session will feature Corporate Innovators pitching their problem sets, their need for technology or talent, external accelerator and investment programs aimed at facilitating cooperation with local startups. Hear directly from the enterprises that have prioritized innovation and are actively seeking relationships with entrepreneurs. During this session, four corporate innovators working in the areas of telecommunications, marketing and new media, energy, and professional services will present to an audience of entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs will learn about existing collaboration opportunities and receive valuable insights on cooperating with the most innovative corporations.

With over 20 years’ experience in product management and marketing at companies including Akamai Technologies and Pegaystems, John is most at home drawing out the customer insights that bring new products to market. John leads the LaunchPad intrapreneurship program at Cognizant Technologies driving new software solutions for the 21st largest technology company in the US.  John holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MA from the University of Pennsylvania.

As Chief Innovation Officer at Hill Holliday, Mike’s been instrumental in growing the agency’s digital capabilities and modernizing its creative process. His work at the intersection of creative, media, and tech has shown clients a number of first-in-class solutions. Mike’s thinking can be found in Ad Age, his 2012 best-selling book, “Social TV,” and on NECN where he’s on-air #TechTuesday guest contributor. For his leadership in modern marketing, Mike was named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business in 2014.   

 

 

 

Julie Ferland, Shell TechWorks

Julie Ferland, General Manager, Shell TechWorks 

As Julie Ferland joined Shell TechWorks in March 2015 as Head of Program Management. Previously, Julie was Vice President of Engineering at Hydroid, developing marine robotic systems including REMUS AUV’s. She also held the position of Vice President and Principal Engineer at Maritime Applied Physics Corporation. Julie has focused her career on technology development and deployment, primarily for the US Department of Defense, including projects such as design and construction of the flight deck safety systems on Zumwalt Destroyers, integration of UAVs onto small-deck surface ships, development of unmanned surface vessels, and harvesting energy from subsea thermal vents. She has also served as an Engineering Duty Officer and Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy, working as a naval architect, a hardhat salvage diver and a gas turbine engineer. Julie holds an Engineer Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from MIT and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Harvard University.     

 

 

Tim Gorman, Verizon

 

Tim Gorman, Associate Director Verizon Innovation Centers and 5G Labs 

Tim Gorman is an Associate Director within the Verizon Innovation Center and 5G Labs organization. He is chartered with driving the adoption of Verizon’s emerging technology and with developing an ecosystem of innovators focused on exploring 5G and mobile edge compute powered solutions. Tim has held multiple roles in his two decades with Verizon which include leadership positions in innovation, alliance management, and advanced technology sales. Tim has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University and an MBA from Babson College. 

 

 

 

 

Matt Biancuzzo, Accenture 

Matt Biancuzzo, Ventures and Innovation Strategy, Accenture 

Matt is based in New York City as part of Accenture Ventures, which connects Accenture’s clients to leading startups to drive innovation, growth, and change.  Matt’s role is twofold – he is the Segment lead for Ventures’ global agenda for sustainability, inclusion & diversity, and social impact; he is also focused on Ventures market development in the US-Northeast region.  His prior experience spans Innovation, Growth Strategy, Inclusion & Diversity Strategy, and Systems Integration for Accenture and its clients. Matt holds MA and BA degrees in Economics from the University of Connecticut.

Sarah Biller, FinTech Sandbox

Sarah Biller is a FinTech entrepreneur, investor and educator. She is the Executive Director of Vantage Ventures. Most recently, Sarah was the Head of Innovation Ventures at State Street Bank’s Global Exchange division and its Chief Operating Officer for Innovation. Prior to joining State Street, she was the Co-Founder and President of Capital Market Exchange (CMX), a privately-financed predictive analytics platform utilizing investor sentiment to help bond investors anticipate near-term changes in spreads. Sarah has been a Principal in the launch of several successful venture backed start-ups in the FinTech and Life Sciences sectors. She teaches a graduate level course on the evolution of Financial Technology at Brandeis University and leads the Boston Fintech Meetup. Sarah also sits on the Board of a venture capital firm and multiple start-ups focused on capital markets, trading and the blockchain. Sarah has also held roles at Fidelity Investments; worked on MCI’s corporate venture team; and launched and led research divisions for Fortune 500 CFO’s and treasurers at the Corporate Executive Board. She studied Finance at West Virginia University and George Washington University.

Eric is Head of Innovation at Intralinks – a leading FinTech company supporting M&A deals and other secure financial transactions – where he catalyzes ideas, spreads a culture of Lean Startup thinking and behavior and leads a Data Science team. His team has focused on exploration and experimentation of AI technology that has developed numerous POCs for the company. These AI and Innovation initiatives are driving the company strategy for new generations of technology and customer experience.

Andrew Willard leads MathWorks Global Startups & Accelerator program. The team is focused on providing software, training and technical support to startups across the globe. In 2019 over 1800 startups and 220+ Accelerators participated in the program. Andrew comes to this role following a 24-year career in Technical Sales providing software, custom mechanical and contract manufacturing to industries as diverse as: Oil & Gas Exploration, Renewable Energy, Silicon Chip Manufacturing, and Medical Devices.

As a Senior Investment Manager at Bose Ventures, Adam is responsible for searching out new and innovative technology businesses that are strategically relevant to Bose primarily in its new Health division focused on Sleep and Hearing. Before joining Bose Ventures Adam was with Stanley Ventures, the Venture arm of Stanley Black and Decker focused on strategically investing in health and security companies. Adam began his career with Argo Global Capital with a focus on early stage investing in the telecommunications industry.

Charles Renert is Senior Director of Engineering for the Technology Commercialization business unit at Capital One, based in Cambridge MA.  He currently leads the technology team that is building the next generation of cloud management & security applications. Previously, Renert was co-founder of Determina, an MIT-based startup acquired by VMWare.  His previous roles include VP of Cybersecurity at Viasat, VP of Research & Technology at Forcepoint and Director at Symantec.
